Winter Skincare

We all know that when the temperatures drop during the winter season that it’s an indication we must change our skin regimen to upkeep with the new weather conditions.

Most recently, I went on an incredible ski trip but truthfully, I forgot some of the skincare rituals and wanted to ensure that I was protecting my skin to the fullest. Luckily for me, I had a great IG Live with beauty expert and my dear friend, Liz Kennedy and learnt some useful tricks that I implemented into my routine. Catch the full video here.

In the meantime, let’s chat best practices for taking care of your skin throughout the winter, ie, moisturizing and retaining it. Cold air saps the skin of moisture mainly because of the dryness. Dry-ness can contribute to a dull, lifeless appearance – moisture can help give the skin an improved luminosity through the cold months.

TIP #1 - SLUGGING (new beauty term thanks to Liz)

Slugging is a skincare trend which includes coating your face in petrolatum or Vaseline. This is meant to prevent transepidermal water loss and keep moisture in your skin. Liz suggested this for ski days and it worked like a charm (no red, chapped skin). We love Aquafor.

TIP #2 - MASK UP (hydrating sheet mask that is)

Fast forward to 21 minutes into my IG live with Liz, she suggests this brand for affordable yet effective sheet masks: Aloisia Beauty.

TIP #3 - SPF IS YOUR BFF (no seriously)

One thing my mother taught me at a very young age was to never leave the house without applying SPF. I can thank her for never dealing with sun spots. Rain or shine, always apply! Try W3ll People.

TIP #4 - BEAUTY MAGNET (try these sculpting, magnetized tools and thank us later)

Liz Kennedy is not only a beauty expert but she is also the founder of Beauty Magnet. High performance skincare tools, magnetized so you don’t have to look through your drawers in search for them.

TIP #5 - SERUMS (all day, every day. Ok fine, maybe not all day but pretty close to it)

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. True Botanicals. My must-have product every single day.
